MS. MERIAN LEE
ACADEMIC FACULTY

Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies, The University of British Columbia;

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education), The University of Hong Kong

Ms. Merian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies from The University of British Columbia, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) from The University of Hong Kong.

She possesses over 10 years of extensive English teaching experiences coaching early years and primary students, with a specific focus on helping young learners develop language skills through fun and interactive experiences.

Ms. Merian is a passionate and dedicated educator and a former curriculum leader, with a strong belief that children learn best through play. Throughout her education career, she has devised various teaching strategies to enrich young learners’ English language knowledge in the most enjoyable and effective way possible.

Ms. Merian has lived in both the United States and Canada. Her exposure sparks her enthusiasm in bridging cultures through English teaching, whilst equipping students with the qualities of a global citizen.

She has taught hundreds of students from top local and international schools, including Small World Christian Kindergarten, St. Stephen’s Girls’ Primary School, Hong Kong International School, and the English Schools Foundation primary schools.

MR. MARK DOYLE

Bachelor of Science in Technology and Business Studies, Strathclyde University, United Kingdom 

Mr. Mark Doyle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology and Business Studies from Strathclyde University, United Kingdom. He has also attained an ‘A’ Grade in the TEFL certification, which focuses on teaching approaches and methodology, lesson planning, and the structural, lexical and phonological aspects of English.
Mr. Mark possesses over 10 years of extensive English teaching experience across playgroup, kindergarten, primary and secondary students. Now a primary school exam specialist, he is well-versed with learning and exam strategies to prepare students for critical school exams. Mr. Mark is also a primary and secondary school interview specialist, coaching students successfully into top-tier schools. Over the years, he has taught students from various top local schools, including Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS), La Salle College (Primary & Secondary), and Rosaryhill School.
Mr. Mark is also an experienced Phonics instructor for young learners, and has a highly relational teaching style. He is known to design highly experiential, student-led lessons and adopt growth mindset and social emotional learning (SEL) approaches in his lessons.

MS. NICOLA CHAN

Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature, Hong Kong Baptist University Master of Arts in Comparative Literature, King’s College London

Ms. Nicola Chan is an English Language & Literature graduate from the Hong Kong Baptist University and holds a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from King’s College London.
Being a master of multiple languages, Ms. Nicola is skilled in teaching both kindergarteners and primary level students. Her specialty is in teaching students of English as a second language, with a special emphasis on developing their blending, reading, and writing skills.
Prior to her career in education, Ms. Nicola was a journalist at South China Morning Post’s Young Post, educating and empowering local and international secondary students through writing English news and feature stories paramount to their personal growth and wellbeing. This experience makes her highly skilled in coaching students in writing as she is able to draw on her flair for writing from her real-life experience.
Ms. Nicola believes that learning only happens when a child is put in the driver’s seat and enjoys the ride. She strives to incorporate students’ interests and develop their learner autonomy, whilst deepening learning through multisensory activities, play, and building on students’ existing knowledge and skills.
Ms. Nicola has always been a firm believer in the transformational power of education. Her local upbringing, overseas exposure, and former working experiences have equipped her with excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English, enabling her to design learning experiences that speak the language of children in Hong Kong, be they from the local or international communities.

MS. MICHELLE MANINGGO

Bachelor of Laws, City University of Hong Kong

Ms. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in law from the City University of Hong Kong. Whilst pursuing her degree, she worked part-time as a private English language tutor and English debate coach to students from French International School (Primary), Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School, Marymount Primary School, Marymount Secondary School, and Ying Wa Girls’ School.
As an avid theatre performer and debater, Ms. Michelle incorporates elements of both in her classes to instill enthusiasm and confidence in her students. She is particularly skilled in developing public speaking skills in students – having trained Debate competition champions and Hong Kong Speech Festival award winners.
Ms. Michelle believes that students learn best through movement and exploration. She incorporates movement-based and multisensory activities in her classes in order to deepen their understanding and aid in their memory retention. On top of this, she is an avid supporter of promoting social interaction and play between her students – cultivating well-rounded students who excel academically and socially.

MS. ANGELA LEUNG

Bachelor of Arts in English Studies, City University of Hong Kong

Ms. Angela Leung holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies from City University of Hong Kong. With over three years of experiences coaching kindergarten and primary students English language and literature, she is trained in improving children’s reading, writing, grammar, phonics, and interview skills. Ms. Angela is a creative and dedicated educator with a sound passion for everything English, including writing and communication. She is specially enthusiastic about cultivating a love for English reading in young learners through teaching children’s literature. Her love for English stems from her love for art and storytelling from a young age. Her pursuit for knowledge and spiritual growth has only proliferated after graduating from City University of Hong Kong. She then spent a couple of years in the UK to fully immerse herself in British English and culture.Prior to joining Qurio, Angela worked in both the education and retail industries. Retaining the best of both worlds, she is committed to creating and delivering fun and innovative learning experiences for young learners, so as to inspire and cultivate their spirits and minds to not just excel in academia, but in life.

MS. HEIDI WONG

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, The Education University of Hong Kong

Ms. Heidi is an Early Childhood Education graduate from The Education University of Hong Kong. Born in Fujian, she possesses over 5 years of Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) teaching experiences in local and international kindergartens.A seasoned teacher and lively storyteller, Ms. Heidi excels at using stories, dramas, and play-based learning methods to strengthen students’ Chinese language skills, as well as to foster a love of learning in children. She is also a primary school interview expert, with solid understanding of the admission interview requirements of top schools in Hong Kong. Ms. Heidi places a strong emphasis on developing young children’s speaking and listening skills. She is a trained GAPSK (General Aptitude Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi) exam instructor and Mandarin recitation instructor. During her teaching career, she has taught young children from top local and international kindergartens, including The Independent Schools Foundation Academy, Creative Kindergarten (Heng Fa Chuen) , and Deborah International Pre-school/ Play School.
