MS. MERIAN LEE

Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies, The University of British Columbia;

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education), The University of Hong Kong

Ms. Merian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies from The University of British Columbia, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) from The University of Hong Kong.

She possesses over 10 years of extensive English teaching experiences coaching early years and primary students, with a specific focus on helping young learners develop language skills through fun and interactive experiences.

Ms. Merian is a passionate and dedicated educator and a former curriculum leader, with a strong belief that children learn best through play. Throughout her education career, she has devised various teaching strategies to enrich young learners’ English language knowledge in the most enjoyable and effective way possible.

Ms. Merian has lived in both the United States and Canada. Her exposure sparks her enthusiasm in bridging cultures through English teaching, whilst equipping students with the qualities of a global citizen.

She has taught hundreds of students from top local and international schools, including Small World Christian Kindergarten, St. Stephen’s Girls’ Primary School, Hong Kong International School, and the English Schools Foundation primary schools.

MR. MIKE CORLISS

Mr. Mike Corliss is an award-winning English teacher holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from The University of the South, United States, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education from The University of Hong Kong

A TESOL-certified teacher, Mr. Mike has over 10 years of experience coaching kindergarten and primary students for eloquent English speaking and writing. He previously taught at Learning Habitat Kindergarten, where he emphasized play-based learning to develop young learners’ speaking confidence. There, Mr. Mike was awarded the Education Bureau (EDB) Certificate of Commendation for kindergarten teaching enthusiasm and pedagogy in 2019 – 2020.

Mr. Mike is known to incorporate musical and physical engagement elements into his teaching for young English learners. He utilizes multi-sensory learning strategies proven to maximise learner engagement and knowledge construction. He is also passionate about creating highly engaging online lessons for young learners.

Before coming to Hong Kong, Mr. Mike lived in the United States, Germany, South Korea, and Singapore. He speaks four languages fluently and hopes to keep growing as he inspires his students to do the same.

MR. MARK DOYLE
MR. MARK DOYLE

Bachelor of Science in Technology and Business Studies, Strathclyde University, United Kingdom 

Mr. Mark Doyle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology and Business Studies from Strathclyde University, United Kingdom. He has also attained an ‘A’ Grade in the TEFL certification, which focuses on teaching approaches and methodology, lesson planning, and the structural, lexical and phonological aspects of English.
Mr. Mark possesses over 10 years of extensive English teaching experience across playgroup, kindergarten, primary and secondary students. Now a primary school exam specialist, he is well-versed with learning and exam strategies to prepare students for critical school exams. Mr. Mark is also a primary and secondary school interview specialist, coaching students successfully into top-tier schools. Over the years, he has taught students from various top local schools, including Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS), La Salle College (Primary & Secondary), and Rosaryhill School.
Mr. Mark is also an experienced Phonics instructor for young learners, and has a highly relational teaching style. He is known to design highly experiential, student-led lessons and adopt growth mindset and social emotional learning (SEL) approaches in his lessons.

MR. KENNETH CHAN

Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education, University of Wollongong, Australia; Bachelor of Arts (Honors), University of Toronto, Canada

Mr. Kenneth Chan holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education specialising in primary education from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He comes from an international school background, with more than 10 years experience working at international schools across Canada, Japan, and China.
Mr. Kenneth draws from his rich experience working at established International Baccalaureate international schools, allowing him to connect and engage students with a variety of practices such as play-based learning and inquiry-based methods where students build knowledge through structured questioning approaches. Mr. Kenneth is passionate in bringing these kinds of innovative learning with excitement to young learners and loves to see them grow. He wants to inspire students to learn by getting them involved through hands-on experience and structured play, as he believes this is truly what learning is all about.
Mr. Kenneth is also an avid supporter of using technology to enhance learning. He is completing his Masters of Education in Educational Technology where he hopes to foster this knowledge toward building 21st-century learning skills in young learners through STEM.

MS. ANGELA LEUNG

Bachelor of Arts in English Studies, City University of Hong Kong

Ms. Angela Leung holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies from City University of Hong Kong. With over three years of experiences coaching kindergarten and primary students English language and literature, she is trained in improving children’s reading, writing, grammar, phonics, and interview skills. Ms. Angela is a creative and dedicated educator with a sound passion for everything English, including writing and communication. She is specially enthusiastic about cultivating a love for English reading in young learners through teaching children’s literature. Her love for English stems from her love for art and storytelling from a young age. Her pursuit for knowledge and spiritual growth has only proliferated after graduating from City University of Hong Kong. She then spent a couple of years in the UK to fully immerse herself in British English and culture.Prior to joining Qurio, Angela worked in both the education and retail industries. Retaining the best of both worlds, she is committed to creating and delivering fun and innovative learning experiences for young learners, so as to inspire and cultivate their spirits and minds to not just excel in academia, but in life.

MS. NICOLA CHAN

Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature, Hong Kong Baptist University Master of Arts in Comparative Literature, King’s College London

Ms. Nicola Chan is an English Language & Literature graduate from the Hong Kong Baptist University and holds a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from King’s College London.
Being a master of multiple languages, Ms. Nicola is skilled in teaching both kindergarteners and primary level students. Her specialty is in teaching students of English as a second language, with a special emphasis on developing their blending, reading, and writing skills.
Prior to her career in education, Ms. Nicola was a journalist at South China Morning Post’s Young Post, educating and empowering local and international secondary students through writing English news and feature stories paramount to their personal growth and wellbeing. This experience makes her highly skilled in coaching students in writing as she is able to draw on her flair for writing from her real-life experience.
Ms. Nicola believes that learning only happens when a child is put in the driver’s seat and enjoys the ride. She strives to incorporate students’ interests and develop their learner autonomy, whilst deepening learning through multisensory activities, play, and building on students’ existing knowledge and skills.
Ms. Nicola has always been a firm believer in the transformational power of education. Her local upbringing, overseas exposure, and former working experiences have equipped her with excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English, enabling her to design learning experiences that speak the language of children in Hong Kong, be they from the local or international communities.

MR. TIGER LAI

Bachelor of Education in Language Education (Chinese Language & Literature), The University of Hong Kong

Mr. Tiger Lai is a Chinese Education graduate from the University of Hong Kong. He possesses more than 10 years of primary and secondary Chinese teaching experience. Having taught students from both local and international schools, he is extremely familiar with the school curriculum of both streams.
Mr. Tiger formerly taught Chinese at his alma mater, La Salle College, and has an in-depth understanding of La Salle’s school curriculum. He is also highly experienced in exam strategies, and is the author of the IBDP Chinese B Writing Level 7 Exam Guide. The students he has coached come from different local schools, including Diocesan Boys’ School, Fukien Secondary School Affiliated School, Hennessy Road Government Primary School, Kowloon Tong School (Primary Section), Marymount Primary School, PLK Camoes Tan Siu Lin Primary School, PLK Choi Kai Yau School, Pui Ching Primary School, Sha Tin Junior School, St. Paul’s College Primary School, and more.
Mr. Tiger is well-known for incorporating special mnemonic methods to aid student learning effectiveness as well, and is highly popular among many elite school parents.

MS. HEIDI WONG

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, The Education University of Hong Kong

Ms. Heidi is an Early Childhood Education graduate from The Education University of Hong Kong. Born in Fujian, she possesses over 5 years of Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) teaching experiences in local and international kindergartens.A seasoned teacher and lively storyteller, Ms. Heidi excels at using stories, dramas, and play-based learning methods to strengthen students’ Chinese language skills, as well as to foster a love of learning in children. She is also a primary school interview expert, with solid understanding of the admission interview requirements of top schools in Hong Kong. Ms. Heidi places a strong emphasis on developing young children’s speaking and listening skills. She is a trained GAPSK (General Aptitude Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi) exam instructor and Mandarin recitation instructor. During her teaching career, she has taught young children from top local and international kindergartens, including The Independent Schools Foundation Academy, Creative Kindergarten (Heng Fa Chuen) , and Deborah International Pre-school/ Play School.

MS. AIMEE DAI

Master of Arts in STEM Education, The Education University of Hong Kong
Master of Engineering in Chemical Technology, Guangzhou University

Ms. Aimee is a native Mandarin teacher with over 5 years of Mandarin teaching and tutoring experience for kindergarten, primary, and secondary school students. She has completed and achieved Grade 2A in the Putonghua Proficiency Test (PSC). Prior to Qurio, Ms. Aimee was a Science and Chinese teacher at Kiangsu-Chekiang College International Section. She has also taught students from Hong Kong Academy, Renaissance College, Clearwater Bay School, Nord Angelia, Kellett, and KGV School. In her teaching career, Ms. Aimee is also experienced in coaching students with behavioral challenges and conditions such as autism.Outside of academics, Ms. Aimee is also actively involved in community activities. She has served as a Career and Life Education Facilitator for local primary schools since 2019 as well as the Youth Leadership Programme Coordinator and judge for Mandarin Speech Contests for District 89 of Toastmasters International. Ms. Aimee’s specialty is in designing play-based and student-centred Mandarin and STEM courses for young learners. She believes that every child has a unique gift and encourages her students to learn by doing to become life-long learners. She thrives on helping students find their passion to achieve whole-person development.

MS. JAMIE CHAN

Bachelor of Arts in Language and Translation, The Open University of Hong Kong

With more than 5 years of experience teaching playgroup, kindergarten, and primary school students, Ms. Jamie Chan is highly experienced in engaging students and nurturing their curiosity and interest in learning for maximum results. She is well-versed in both the Hong Kong local school as well as international school curriculum and is skilled in coaching students in the art of learning and exam-taking.
She is a also believer in the use of encouragement and positive reinforcement to develop children’s character. In her years of experience as a teacher, Jamie loves creating a joyful and positive learning atmosphere to motivate children to go further in their learning. She truly believes that every child is entitled to an inspiring education – “Guidance but not dominance” is what she strives for as an educator.
Ms. Jamie has taught students from various top local and international schools including St. Catherine’s International Kindergarten & Nursery, Good Hope Primary School, Diocesan Girls’ School, Tsung Tsin Christian Academy, Renaissance College, Sha Tin College, International Christian School, and more.

MS. GRACE LAU

Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honors), The University of Kent, United Kingdom

Ms. Grace Lau is a Psychology graduate from the University of Kent who is passionate about educational psychology, in particular, special needs education. She is motivated to improve the learning experience of students by creating a learning environment that is grounded in trust. Ms. Grace values diversity and prioritises the nurturance of her students’ strengths, as she believes that building self-confidence is the key to unlocking any child’s potential. As an educator, Ms. Grace is dedicated to adapting her teaching to match the differential needs of her students. She hopes to assist her students in discovering their unique and most efficient ways of learning.
